Seeding and Scaling Innovations
Empowering founders and early-stage entrepreneurs to build market-ready and competitive, AI-enabled ventures.
Nepal is standing at a digital crossroads. In an era where AI is the defining competitive force of the global economy, local enterprises have an unprecedented opportunity to leapfrog conventional limitations. However, there is a critical "innovation isolation," limiting economic growth and reducing opportunities for U.S. businesses in South Asia. Despite impressive entrepreneurial talent and emerging AI capabilities, Nepali innovators remain disconnected from global markets, advanced tech platforms, and international investors, driving youth outmigration and limiting high-quality job creation.
At the same time, American companies recognize South Asia’s innovation potential but struggle to identify reliable local partners familiar with U.S. business standards. This mutual disconnect results in missed opportunities—Nepali AI solutions remain locally constrained, while U.S. companies miss emerging market entry and early-stage investment prospects. Without targeted intervention, this isolation will hinder economic growth and reduce the effectiveness of U.S. commercial diplomacy in a strategically vital region.
Seeding & Scaling Innovations, supported by the U.S. Embassy Nepal, is designed to bridge this divide. Through a three-month pre-accelerator for 20 high-potential cohorts and a monthly strategic dialogue series with global and local experts, we build competitiveness of Nepali AI solutions and strengthen U.S.–Nepal commercial ties.

Scaling Innovations Dialogue Series
The Role of Strategic Convenings

Panelists from our third Scaling Innovations dialogue discuss global brand identity. (L-R): Stuti Basnyet (Moderator), Kailash Bijayananda, Pranayna KC, Preeti Adhikary, and Jonathan Clarke.
The Scaling Innovations Dialogue brings together founders, operators, and ecosystem leaders to examine a harder question: what does scale actually require?
Nepali founders—both at home and across the diaspora—are building serious companies. Many are shipping globally competitive products, closing international clients, and quietly reshaping perceptions of what “Made in Nepal” can mean. Yet even amid these successes, one pain point persists: how to scale beyond early traction into durable, investable, globally trusted enterprises.
Scale emerges from globally aligned governance and standards; capital readiness; narrative coherence; and strong underlying capabilities and operational delivery. The Scaling Innovations Dialogue Series Is designed as a strategic convening platform to advance forward-looking conversations on these structural levers—critical to scaling AI and tech solutions from Nepal while strengthening U.S.–Nepal commercial ties.
Co-created with AmCham Nepal and embedded within the broader Seeding & Scaling Innovations initiative supported by the U.S. Embassy in Nepal, the series convenes U.S., Nepali, and diaspora leaders each month, beginning December 2025.
Each dialogue focuses on one structural shift Nepal must strengthen to compete globally:
- Responsible, ethical and governance-first AI adoption;
- Capability development and strategic partnerships;
- Cohesive global market positioning; and
- Smarter, more accessible pathways to growth capital.
The intent is practical—to surface shared norms, clarify standards, compress learning cycles, and strengthen the connective tissue between founders, markets, and capital. It also elevates and amplifies the serious work already underway in Nepal—whether by NAAMII and Tangible Careers on research and talent pathways, SecurityPal AI on secure-by-design delivery and global standards, or firms like Adex-TekBay advancing enterprise-grade AI solutions.
Strategic convenings matter. Dialogue—when intentionally designed—becomes a coordination mechanism. It aligns signals of credibility, strengthens shared standards, and converts promising initiatives into scalable outcomes.
Dialogue 1: Ethical and Responsible AI
Our journey began in December 2025, examining Nepal’s potential as a credible, ethical AI partner globally. Governance emerged as the starting point: organizations must understand AI’s possibilities and limits before deployment. Cybersecurity is not a feature—it is foundational. Human oversight, or “human torque,” remains critical: augmented intelligence guided by context and judgment positions Nepal as a boutique, high-trust AI partner. Scale, the dialogue concluded, is not purely technological; it is governance-led, security-embedded, and human-centred. Ethical architecture becomes a competitive advantage.
Dialogue 2: The Innovation Factory — Capability as Infrastructure
The second dialogue shifted focus to capability. Nepal cannot compete by simply adopting global tools; it must contribute to the global knowledge ecosystem. The “Innovation Factory” model was introduced—anchored in frontier research, scalable AI literacy, and industry innovation prototyped locally and scaled globally. With the half-life of tech skills shrinking, precision hiring, competency-based learning, and AI-native workflows are essential. Cross-border IP models, stronger academia–industry links, and diaspora engagement as adjunct faculty were highlighted as practical pathways. Capability, the dialogue reinforced, is the infrastructure that anchors narrative and capital.
Dialogue 3: Silicon Peaks — Perception and Narrative
The third dialogue addressed perception. Nepal’s technical capability is advancing rapidly, but global awareness lags. Branding is not just communications—it is economic infrastructure, the mechanism through which trust sustains and contracts materialize. “Silicon Peaks” was introduced as a standards-based identity: a credibility framework grounded in execution. Global trust is earned through secure-by-design systems, enterprise-grade delivery, and relentless problem-solving. Founders must shift from product obsession to problem obsession, lead with customer pain points, and formalize diaspora networks as structured commercial diplomats. Nepal’s resilience—adaptability under prolonged challenges—emerges as a distinct advantage. Coordinated visibility, credibility, and disciplined storytelling turn dispersed excellence into scalable, investable ecosystems.

The Seeding and Scaling Innovations journey culminates next month. Our fourth and final dialogue, "Expanding Access to Growth Capital," will focus on bridging the financing gap for Nepal’s next generation of AI talent.
This session will double as an Investment Pitch Showcase, where select participants from our Seeding Innovations cohort will present their refined ventures to a room of investors, diaspora leaders, and institutional partners. We are not just building businesses; we are building the evidence that Nepal is ready for the global stage.
The Road Ahead: Your Invitation to Co-Create
As we close this first phase of our Seeding and Scaling Innovations initiative, we transition into a period of high-touch, one-on-one mentorship for our 20 participants. We have identified the specific hurdles each founder faces and are connecting them with mentors who can help them leap over them. Our next phase will focus on the power of storytelling and branding, ensuring that when these founders step in front of global investors, they have the narrative weight to match their technical prowess.
None of this work can be done in isolation. The future of Nepal’s tech ecosystem is not a predetermined path; it is a choice we make through the partnerships we form today. Whether you are a mentor, an investor, or an ally, we welcome you to join this growing community as we build what uplifts and endures.
